Charles Walter founded and CEO Charles Walter Law Firm, PLLC in 1990. He has been a lawyer for most of his working life but did a few other things before that.
He is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, Brandeis University (B.A. 1971) and Brooklyn Law School (J.D. 1975).
He worked as a reporter and semi-weekly newspaper editor in and around his hometown of Brookyln, New York and received awards from the New York Press Association for his work as a journalist.
He began his career as a trial attorney for the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society. He later served as Law Secretary to the Honorable Gerard M. Weisberg, Judge of the New York State Court of Claims.
During that time, he drafted hundreds of opinions for the judge in civil cases, of which approximately 25 were accepted for publication in the Official Reports of the State of New York.
Mr. Charles was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 1976, and is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Charles has also been admitted to practice for specific cases in the States of Florida, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Mr. Reiter is a member of American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York County Lawyers Association and the Bronx County Bar Association.
Attorney Charles has been named to the Super Lawyers list each year since 2011. A rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition, Super Lawyers recognizes no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state.
Charles Walter also is a member of the Nation’s Top One Percent, having been selected in 2015 by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. He stands with an elite group of attorneys who promote the highest standards of excellence in the legal profession. Members consist of only the top one percent of attorneys across the nation.
